Samba Police Arrest Man with Illegal Revolver

Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested an alleged criminal in Samba district on Saturday, recovering an illegal revolver from his possession during a routine patrol. The encounter occurred as police officers monitored suspicious activities in the JDA Colony area.

The arrested individual, identified as Munna Singh, resides in Sohal village in Akhnoor and has recently relocated to Samba. Singh was spotted heading towards Kikri Morh from Data Talab when a police patrol conveyed his unusual behavior.

Upon noticing the police team approaching, Singh attempted to flee, raising suspicions among the officers. The police chased him down and successfully apprehended him. During a personal search, they uncovered a revolver.

Singh could not present any valid license or documentation allowing him to carry the firearm, which led the police to file a case under the applicable provisions of the Arms Act. The spokesperson for the police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the source of the weapon and any potential further violations.

The Samba district has faced increasing concern over illegal firearms, prompting intensified police efforts to clamp down on such activities. Local authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior that might indicate illegal possession of weapons.

This latest incident highlights the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police to enhance community safety and uphold the law in the region. Officials reiterate the importance of respecting firearm regulations to prevent crime and ensure public safety.
