In a remarkable feat, India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami became the fastest Indian bowler and the second quickest overall to reach 200 wickets in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) during Thursday’s Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh.

Shami reached the landmark in just 104 matches, surpassing Ajit Agarkar’s record of 133 matches. The 34-year-old speedster finished with an outstanding 5 wickets for 53 runs, solidifying his status as one of India’s most successful bowlers in ICC tournaments.

The landmark wicket came when Shami dismissed Jaker Ali, marking Shami’s 200th ODI wicket. Shami now has 60 wickets in ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy events, overtaking Zaheer Khan (59) and Javagal Srinath (47).

Shami’s achievement of reaching 200 wickets in ODIs places him as the second fastest, behind Mitchell Starc (102 matches).
