The ongoing Swachhtantra Campaign took center stage on the eve of Republic Day in Jammu city with a series of impactful activities designed to promote cleanliness, sustainability, and community participation. These events highlighted the collective responsibility in making Jammu a cleaner and greener city.
The highlight of the day’s events was the Plantation Drive, which took place across all 75 wards of Jammu city. The main event was held at Hari Singh Park, where the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, was the Chief Guest. He was joined by the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, Joint Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) Abdul Star, and other senior municipal officers. Together, the dignitaries inaugurated the plantation initiative by planting 76 saplings, symbolizing the city’s commitment to environmental conservation.
In addition to the Plantation Drive, a Plog Run was organized in Gujjar Nagar, as part of the campaign’s focus on promoting cleanliness while engaging citizens in physical activity. Participants of all ages joined the run, collecting waste along the way to contribute directly to the city’s cleanliness efforts.
This series of activities underscored the importance of environmental conservation, waste management, and active citizen participation in maintaining a cleaner, healthier city. The Swachhtantra Campaign continues to inspire residents to take responsibility for their surroundings and contribute towards a greener Jammu.
