In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police attached properties worth ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh on Tuesday. This action forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the region.
Police initiated the attachment under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 61/2019, which includes charges under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act. The operation took place at Police Station Nowhatta following meticulous investigations.
The attached assets comprise a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a single-storey concrete kitchen block with three washrooms, and 09 marlas of land—demonstrating the vast extent of wealth amassed through illicit means.
According to police records, Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal in Srinagar, acquired this wealth through drug trafficking activities. Authorities have ensured that the due legal process was followed to identify and attach these illegally obtained assets.
This operation reflects Srinagar Police’s commitment to dismantling the financial backbone of drug networks and addressing the rampant issue of narcotics in society. Officials stress the importance of public cooperation in tackling drug-related issues.
