Mumbai, Dec 13: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address Parliament regarding measures taken by the Indian government to safeguard Hindus in Bangladesh. Thackeray made these remarks during a press conference in Mumbai, where he criticized the BJP for what he described as “using Hindutva only for votes.”
Concerns Over Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh
Thackeray highlighted the increasing incidents of violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh, including the vandalization of temples over recent months. “Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is safe in India, but what about Hindus in the neighbouring country?” Thackeray questioned.
He demanded that PM Modi update Parliament, currently in its winter session, on the steps being taken to address the issue. Thackeray added, “If the PM could intervene in the Russia-Ukraine war, he should also act to stop atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh.”
Thackeray’s Criticism of BJP
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader accused the BJP of failing to uphold its commitment to Hindutva principles. “Their Hindutva is only for securing votes,” he stated, urging the government to take concrete action to protect minority communities in Bangladesh.
Thackeray’s comments come amid rising concerns over the safety of Hindus in the region and are likely to amplify demands for a stronger diplomatic response from India to safeguard minority rights in the neighboring country.
