Satish Sharma Launches Indoor Sports Hall in Khour

On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area of Jammu and Kashmir. This significant milestone aims to boost sports infrastructure in the border regions of the Union Territory.

During the inauguration, Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to offering modern and inclusive sports facilities. He highlighted the importance of providing accessible sports infrastructure primarily focused on rural and border areas, which fosters a strong sporting culture and promotes a healthy lifestyle among youth.

“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” stated Sharma, underscoring the government’s proactive approach.

The newly inaugurated multipurpose indoor hall is designed to accommodate various sports disciplines simultaneously. It boasts facilities for three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, and two judo courts, along with dedicated areas for wrestling and kabaddi, providing a comprehensive training environment for budding athletes.

Sharma also took the time to interact with local youth and sportspersons, urging them to maximize the use of the new facility. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing sports infrastructure development, youth engagement, and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.

The opening of this indoor sports hall is set to significantly enhance sporting activities in the Khour area and neighboring regions. Young athletes will now have easier access to modern, world-class facilities close to their homes, which can be a game-changer for local sports development.
