The Labour Commissioner of J&K, Charandeep Singh, visited the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Samba on Thursday to inspect various factory units, including M/S Jai Beverages (Unit III) and M/S Modern Papers. The visit was focused on evaluating the adherence of these factories to labour laws and their commitment to the welfare and safety of their workers.
Accompanied by Inspectors of Factories Jammu, Ravinder Krundu and Imran Khan, the Labour Commissioner conducted an on-ground review, interacting with both the workers and the management. The visit primarily centered on examining workers’ conditions, safety measures, and the overall welfare practices being followed at the units.
The factories were permitted to operate on a three-shift basis, and the visit also aimed to ensure that all necessary compliances were in place regarding the same. During his interaction with the factory management, the Labour Commissioner emphasized the importance of strict adherence to labour regulations to safeguard workers’ rights and well-being. He highlighted the need for factories to create a safe, healthy, and conducive work environment in line with established standards.
