“Govt Accommodation to be Allotted to Kejriwal, Says Union Minister Khattar”

New Delhi, Dec 10 – Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, confirmed on Tuesday that a government accommodation will soon be allotted to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, in line with his entitlement as the president of a national political party.

Addressing reporters at a press conference, Khattar clarified that as the head of a national party, Kejriwal is entitled to a Type VII bungalow, a category designated for senior political leaders. However, the Minister noted that all Type VII bungalows are currently occupied.

“At present, we have only Type V and VI bungalows available. Unfortunately, there is no vacant Type VII bungalow at the moment. But as soon as one becomes available, it will be allotted to Arvind Kejriwal,” Khattar said.

AAP’s Demand for Government Accommodation

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been urging the central government to provide Kejriwal with a suitable accommodation, emphasizing that he is entitled to a Type VII bungalow as the president of a national party. Recently, AAP officials reiterated this demand in a letter sent to the Union Housing Ministry, seeking prompt action.

Kejriwal, who stepped down as Delhi Chief Minister in September, had moved into the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal at 5 Ferozeshah Road in October. The AAP has consistently argued that Kejriwal should be allotted government accommodation based on his national party status.
