Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, today launched the “Amrit Gyaan Kosh” portal for governance training, marking a significant step toward enhancing administrative skills in India.
Empowering Educators and Administrators
The launch of the portal was accompanied by the inauguration of an “Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop,” which is organized under the Capacity Building Commission, in partnership with the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development and the Asian Development Bank Institute. This workshop is designed to strengthen governance training and capacity building for public administrators in India.
In his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the critical importance of case studies in bridging the gap between theory and practical governance. He commended faculty members from both central and state training institutes for their efforts in shaping the future generation of public administrators. The Minister expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the workshop, aimed at empowering educators with advanced skills in case writing and innovative teaching methodologies.
Launching the Amrit Gyaan Kosh Portal
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the “Amrit Gyaan Kosh” portal on the iGOT platform, a joint initiative of the Capacity Building Commission and Karmayogi Bharat. Dr. Singh described the repository, which was launched earlier this year in August, as a comprehensive collection of best practices from across India. The portal aligns with 15 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and covers diverse policy themes such as health, education, agriculture, and digital governance.
The Minister lauded the repository as a significant achievement that reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to a “whole of the government” approach. He highlighted the portal’s inclusive and accessible nature, which includes case studies, teaching notes, and content available in both Hindi and Braille. Dr. Singh encouraged participants to utilize the resources and contribute new case studies to further enrich the portal.
Strengthening the Case-Based Approach
The workshop focuses on enhancing the case-based approach in governance training. Dr. Singh emphasized that case studies provide invaluable learning experiences, and the training sessions are designed to teach participants how to develop structured case studies, improve their teaching methods, and contribute to the Amrit Gyaan Kosh repository. Experts from the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development will lead the sessions, with participants creating publishable case studies that address real-world administrative challenges.
Dr. Singh also praised the rigorous selection process, which saw 60 faculty members chosen from an initial pool of over 300 nominations. He noted that the two-cohort workshop marks the beginning of a phase of intensive training, with the outcomes expected to significantly contribute to the knowledge base on the iGOT platform.
Promoting Self-Reliance in Governance Training
The Minister highlighted that Amrit Gyaan Kosh is more than just a repository—it is a platform that promotes self-reliance in governance training. He emphasized the importance of aligning training resources with global standards while addressing India’s unique administrative challenges. Dr. Singh encouraged all participants to maximize this learning opportunity, collaborate with their peers, and share the insights gained with their respective institutions.
The event saw the participation of leadership from the Capacity Building Commission, Karmayogi Bharat, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank Institute, and instructors from the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development.
