The Counter Intelligence wing of J&K Police on Saturday recovered various digital communication devices and incriminating material from inside Srinagar Central Jail while conducting searches in a terror-linked case, the officials said.
The case is registered under various sections of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Acting on credible inputs indicating the presence of suspicious digital signatures within the Central Jail premises, search operations were conducted across multiple blocks and barracks in close coordination with jail authorities, the officials said.
The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) sleuths seized various digital communication devices and incriminating material during the operation, they said.
The officials said the recovered devices will be sent for forensic examination to trace possible links.
The special wing of the J&K Police is probing the apparent security breach that enabled the entry of such devices into the high-security prison.
The role of facilitators and collaborators involved in this act will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken, they added. (Agencies)
